Man starting a new internship is just fantastic. It's exciting, fun and you're hopefully going to experience a tonne of new things and meet a lot of great people.
But some the people you meet will also be fellow interns and just like in high school - you will find that interns all fit certain molds. You telling me you want to be a super star intern? Well you better get your head around the following truth bombs.
Here are a some of the intern stereotypes you will find at every organisation:
1. The Suck Up who is a horrible human being
He's the guy who makes you instantly roll your eyes whenever he speaks. The Suck Up is often volunteering for literally everything and is just a little bit too into everything your manager says. All you need to do is try a little bit less and you'll whiz past this guy.
2. The Funny Guy who you will marry and love until the end
The Funny Guy spends more time thinking of witty lines than working. Makes the day go a lot faster and is usually everyone’s mate. He is all about them lunch breaks and provides some much needed lols when working those endless late nights. If you’re going to befriend anyone, befriend this one. I love this dude.
3. The "Nah ceebs i'm too cool for school"
DO SOMETHING. DO ANYTHING. This guy makes you question why hes even doing an internship. A little bit too cool to really do anything and kinda just sits there. I reccomend hanging out with him so any effort you make instantly becomes magnified.
4. The Guy Who Gets Hired and is actually good
This intern actually knows their stuff. Probably quite talented and might actually deserve a spot - but usually has a mad ego and thinks that he is a shoe-in in for the number one intern position. But don't think about him too much, make good relationships and you'll be okay.
5. The My Dad is Senior VP of Sales
Very easy to recognise, weekend adventures usually involve golf and weekend retreats. Often times this intern genuinely believes they are there due to hard work and dedication. He is often suprised that everyone had to interview for the role.
...Will most likely get an offer.
Which intern stereotype did you fill?
Hopefully you fit the super star intern stereotype the best:
That's right- you know what I did.
